Her Story
I have overcome many adversities within my life so far—many of these challenges and obstacles include coming to America at an early age, where I faced both cultural and language barriers. Though I was able to pick up some things, it was difficult to not be able to depend on my parents, as they, too, were learning. Along the way I also have faced jumping into the role of a mother at an early age, getting married and divorced, and raising two kids on my own. At one point I worked two jobs to make ends meet, and I continue to make sacrifices for the betterment of my children.
I work hard at my full-time day job, come home to the “second shift” many other single mothers encounter, and juggle to find time to exercise every day by getting up at 5:30 AM. Some of the second shift duties often include preparing and cooking dinner, planning dinner for the next day, laundry, assisting with homework, and packing lunches for everyone for the next day. XML Financial has asked me to put together a wellness program that’s in progress. We have eliminated sodas and candies, and we hope to have VARIDESKs, massage sessions, and more.
All of the struggles mentioned make me who I am today. Though it felt like an uphill battle most times, I have truly blossomed into a better woman and mother. I could not have done it without the support and love from my family and children. They inspire me to continue to better myself every day and achieve bigger goals in life.
